The Swedish category B theory test: questions, points and preparation
Know the format before you practise: it helps you use your study time on the rules, not on surprises.
How the test works
Trafikverket’s category B theory test has 70 multiple-choice questions. Five are unscored test questions, so the maximum score is 65. You need at least 52 points and have 50 minutes.
You see whether you passed directly after finishing. A B test passed on or after 19 August 2026 is valid for one year; before that date it is valid for four months.
What the test covers
- Vehicle knowledge and manoeuvring
- Environment
- Road safety
- Traffic rules
- Personal conditions
Prepare for understanding
Timed tests are useful near the end of your preparation. First make sure you can explain a rule, spot the road user who is affected and adapt your answer to the situation. The real questions are not released in advance.
